The GSL vs. The World tournament returns on August 15, featuring an all-star lineup of StarCraft II talent. Once again, USD $100,000 is on the line and the best part is you get to participate by voting in the competitors! The “GSL” and “The World” teams will consist of eight players each, with proven 2019 champions and top WCS Point-earners rounding out the field of candidates eligible for selection.
Up for Fan Voting:
Beginning August 15, GSL vs. The World will showcase individual competition, with 16 players competing in a knockout bracket. Last year saw eventually BlizzCon finalists Serral and Stats meeting in one of the most exciting matches of the year, with the Finnish Zerg clinching a close 4-3 series over the Korean Protoss. Will we see another Global Finals preview at this year’s event?
Next up will be a best-of-nine, team-versus-team exhibition match. Like last year, the #1 ranked GSL player and #1 player from The World will act as team Captains, alternating picks between GSL and The World players until they have drafted a full mixed team. Finally, team Captains will alternate sending out GSL and The World players, until a full 8 rounds have been played out – with a special Ace match if the score remains tied up!
The fan vote runs until 12:00 p.m. PDT on August 1, with real-time results available at Team Liquid. Choose from top names in the WCS like soO, Reynor, and Stats, all hoping for a chance to represent their half of the WCS at the last top-tier event before we get to BlizzCon.
